1991 VVA 50th
Struck to commemorate the Designer's 50th year of life, this coin celebrates, among other acheiviements, these highlights:

• National and California bicycling road race champion
• North American hillclimb champion
• Member of two Olympic and two Pan American teams
• Winner of the Tour du St. Laurent
• Establishment of the double transcontinental record
• Induction into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, for his pioneering efforts in design and production of mountain bikes, and promotion of racing
• Extensive forays into the various domains of design and production of human-powered vehicles, garments, graphic art, painting, electronic jewelry, writing, and of course, coins.

The reverse commemorates the total solar eclipse of 11 July 1991, which the Designer flwe to view, and though it was clouded over in Mazatian that day, the atmosphere was magical for those few minutes, and some sets of this coin were sold in local jewelry shops.
