1994 Olympic Commemorative
"Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the 1964 Olympiad in Tokyo" reads the legend, and in the Olympic tradition, this bronze coin is also offered in silver-plated and gold-plated versions. The Designer's participation in the bicycling road race of the 1964 Olympiad also provided the time to experience a close acquaintance with, and lasting appreciation of, this industrious, sophisticated people. The stylized bicyclist is a Victor Vincente of America desing from the time of the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, when it was produced on souvenir t-shirts and water bottles.

The revers design is based on the style of the ancient Chinese bronze coin (readily available in 1964 Tokyo) often used today in throwing the I Ching. The ideograms, developed with the aid and collaboration of a young Asuan women and her grandmother, are hopefully authentic enough to be understood by those versed in this graphic art. They would read "Sa D'k" and would convey the concept of "Right to Suicide", not as an endorsement of, or goading to, this action, but rather to encourage the individual's retention of innate rights over all aspects of one's life and death, and to not surrender to intimidating laws which would repress or stifle one's freedom, even if it be to swoop down a mountain road at dangerous speed, close to death.
